Because what’s more punk rock than romping around the notoriously kitschy redwood forest themed bar, Bigfoot Lodge? Hanging out in an alley contemplating disestablishmentarian notions you say? Poppycock! (Or perhaps you’ve simply become bored that your only other social options on Tuesdays are being stuck in Hollywood, pretending to be pretentious. Bleh! That’s not punk rock at all!)

Starting this Tuesday, Some Nerve, the new bi-weekly punk rock n’ roll themed night invites you to take a few hours off from your anarchy planning to go have fun dancing around with Smokey The Bear while drinking cheap Colt 45. They’re on special (when are they not?) along with other drinks sure to unleash your wilderness rock monster. The various music providers of the evening (commonly referred to as “DJs”) include Helleion, Jacob Safari, and TNT, along with the roaming photographic stylings of Shadowscene, so don’t forget to get that studded leather jacket and mohawk in tip top shape!

Still crave the nautical theme, my dear Thirsty? For this we again turn to Korea Town, to the boat bar which started it all, the HMS Bounty.

Rumor has it they make a wicked good Swiss cheese sandwich. There is a nearby metro stop for the poor/transportation-conscious folk, the drinks are cheap and stiff, and the bar is a Los Angeles classic.

Fuel up before a weekend of preliminary holiday parties. God, Buddha, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster love you, the HMS Bounty is proof.

Keep an eye out for a curly-haired fellow with a red beard and say hello if you see him.

As the dark days of the Bush administration finally come to a close, we yearn for the simple things in life: the animatronic and/or diorama animals of our youth. Something like Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizza Time Players or Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree The Rock-afire Explosion.

Luckily in our own fair town a beacon of hope, a mixture of black and white, has moved in and taught us that change is truly on the way. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, Thursday November 20th, 2008 Thirsty Club is going to Stinkers Bar, where gas is cheap and beer is inexpensive!  Stinkers was designed by the same people behind the Bigfoot Lodge, if that clues you in.
