Ling Jian “Red Seed”
In the contemporary asian tradition of Audrey Kawasaki and friends, Ling Jian paints semi-erotic young asian women in beautiful rich color and humanistic detail. However, she was born in 1963 in China, so she arguably originated this tradition and her works have a political stance on communism and the changing role of women in Chinese society. Her works will be on display starting this Saturday through Jan. 17th at DF2 gallery. She currently lives and works in Berlin and Beijing.
