Free Fruit

lemonMachine Project, a group that mixes technology with art, has a new event coming up this week. They’re the one’s who took over LACMA last November, covering the museum with art installations from top to bottom. Well this week they are teaming up with Fallen Fruit, a group dedicated to changing the landscape of L.A. to allow for more fruit trees, who have been given 90 fruit trees to give away to whoever shows up first. The goal is for whoever picks one of these trees up, that they will plant it in a public space or near the edge of private property in hopes that others will be able to share it. Of course these trees aren’t full grown, and whoever picks one up is responsible to take care of it while it grows; you know, watering it, making sure it’s planted in the proper soil, etc. The team will provide instructions on planting and taking care of your tree, but they won’t come to your house and take care of it for the next 3 years… that’s your job! It all pays off in the end because you will have a new fruit-bearing tree in your neighborhood. E-mail Fallen Fruit with any questions you may have.
