Bored & Hungry: the Frankenstand

kscr-fest-004So I’ve mentioned the Frankenstand before, but I gotta show them some more love because they are that cool and delicious. If you didn’t hear, they were at KSCR fest this weekend, feeding the hungry BoredLA souls. To reiterate, they have 100% plant-based gourmet franks. There’s three kinds: the wolf, the witch, and the franken ($3,$4,$5, respectively). The wolf is the smallest, the witch is my favorite (I’m obsessed), and the franken is sundried-tomato-y, in a good way. The witch though, micro-brewed in ale, is the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe. But it has an amazing smokey taste I can’t put my finger on, but I love it. I kscr-fest-005topped mine with ketchup, dijon mustard, relish, onion, and plenty of cilantro (at the Franken girl’s recommendation). I would highly recommend that combination. They also have Hansen’s soda and Route 11 chips (try the garlic & herb). But most of all, the Franken’s just seem like a cool little duo. A frankens-franken-570x376boy and girl (husband/wife? brother/sister? not sure) run the whole operation and they’re super friendly. Did I mention the spooky theme? Because it’s pretty rad, as you can see by Mr. Frankens’ get-up, and if you hit up the tip jar he just might press a button that makes a spooky noise! So visit their myspace and twitter (even though they kinda slack on that front) to find out when they’ll be out; I promise it’s worth it.
