Bored & Hungry : Bacaro L.A. revisited

Remember when we hosted Your Art Event at the Ragazzi Room and we wrote about the awesome wine bar next door- Bacaro L.A? In my humble opinion there was not enough emphasis placed on the food, so I’m here to bring it back to what’s really important. The food!
Bacaro’s happy hour (Mon.-Thurs. 5-7pm) is an amazing deal at $5/plate for some of the best tapas I’ve ever had. Not to mention that Monday includes 1/2 off all wines by the glass! Imagine, $5 plates and 1/2 off wine= Monday Funday. The pizzas are probably the best bang for your buck, and delicious at that- the roasted garlic pizza really struck my fancy, so much so in fact that I forgot to photograph it. But I must say, it was pretty. The open-faced burger with the mandatory fried egg on top and delicious mystery sauce is a must-have. The hanger steak, while petite, is also delicious and perfectly cooked, and while the crostini seems to be different everytime I go, I’d say it’s worth the $5 to try it out. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious Noa makes his cauliflower with chipotle aoili (we thought we tasted bacon!) And they seem to be having a recurring special of mussels, which I must try (for $5!)
As for wine, anything goes in my opinion. This is a small, quaint little wine bar, perfect for a let’s-start-the-week-in-a-fun-way gathering or a first date. Order four plates to share and a couple glasses of wine and you’re spending less than $30 on great food- for two!
