Bored and Thirsty: Lost Souls Cafe
Lost Souls Cafe is a great open space that exists
down a short drippy and dark (for reals) alley way off W 4th street in Downtown. It feels like an abandoned warehouse that some artists decided to make into a coffee shop. The ceilings are high and the atmosphere is welcoming. Different types of art from different artists take up seperate spaces of the long walls in the cafe. You can go by yourself to get some reading or ruminating done. Go with some friends on the weekend. If you work in DT stop by for a meal off their incredibly affordable menu that offers an array of food from crepes to sandwhiches. And as for the bored and thirsty aspect, Lost Souls offers many different drinks, from herbal teas to strong-ass coffee.
Let them know if you want to host an event, and check their website for upcoming poetry readings and performances. The space is spread out enough to accomdate a crowd. The hours are a bit tighter recently because of the tough times of the economy: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5pm. Weekend, 9am-5pm. Bottom photo: EJ j.
